The Mosaic disc, which features a white dove flying under a full moon, to be fixed to the marble face of the Tempsford Memorial monument, is being crafted in Tazi's stable studio at Mill Lane, Church End Tempsford. It is made up of some 600 pieces of shaped vitreous glass tesserae, mounted together on a nylon mesh - later to be inset into a prepared disc recess of the marble - then to be grouted n-situ.
Shaping the first pieces of the mosaic, 5th July 2013
Over the past ten weeks, 72 volunteers have dropped into the studio to fix in pieces of the mosaic. 20 of these have been children, under the age of ten, each making a record of their own little bits of history in a log-book so that they are brought back to memory in years to come. These are a few of the captured moments of the work in progress.
